Gippslandia is a community, non-profit, print publication promoting the Gippsland region in eastern Victoria, Australia. They highlight local makers and creatives, curating an ever-optimistic take on regional, national and global issues, in a local context.
This website re-development project aimed to engage its current audience, while also fostering a more vibrant, inclusive, and active Gippsland community.
Gippslandia aims to grow a community geared towards positive change.
To support the future of the publication, the team were looking for a technical solution that included an online store, providing a place for local makers to share their creations with the world.
Our approach was to work collaboratively with the Gippslandia editorial team—who were well-versed in print publishing, content development, and design—to define a vision for the new website.
We set up a Shopify website, which features custom styling and the implementation of a multi-vendor marketplace.
Alongside the technical requirements and a new look and feel, the team also wanted flexibility in site components and efficient web management processes.
We set about creating a platform that highlights the change-makers and local makers in the region.
With a digital-first design, discovery-based information architecture, and a new technical stack—Gippslandia have an elevated digital presence that does justice to their beautiful curated content.
The refresh has brought forward greater membership functionality as a way to give back to the generous contributors of the paper.
